A Santa Maria man has been identified as the driver who was killed earlier this month when a vehicle plunged off a Highway 135 bridge in Orcutt.

The victim was Sean Anthony Thames, 55, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau said Wednesday.

The crash occurred at about 10:35 p.m. on June 5 as the vehicle was southbound on Highway 135.

The sedan came to rest on Rice Ranch Road, below the bridge and the Little League fields, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Thames, the sole occupant, suffered fatal injuries when ejected from the car, and was declared dead at the scene.

CHP officers from Santa Maria area investigated in the incident.
