Santa Barbara High boys golf dropped a tight matchup to Buena at Olivas Links’ par 72 course on Tuesday

On a breezy afternoon, the Dons shot a 417 as a team while the Bulldogs ended the day at 410.

“We did not play our best golf of the season, it was very breezy today,” Santa Barbara coach Ryan Throop said. “This time of year the hazard native area is very thick and if your shots are a little off target you will lose your ball. That happened to us quite a bit today.”

Alex Ortega led the way for the Dons, collecting four birdies on his way to a score of 80.

Following up Ortega were Liam Horn (83), Graham Chapman (84), Jeremy Westmacott (85), Mason Arndt (85) and Elliott Blinderman (88).

The Dons (10-2, 4-2 Channel League) will host Ventura at Santa Barbara Golf Club on Thursday.
