The San Marcos High School Band Jazz Ensemble will reprise its recent award-winning show from Chicago’s Heritage Festival, 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 at the Lobero Theater, 33 E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara.

The fundraising event will help to cover outstanding costs from the band’s April trip to Chicago.

San Marcos won the Dos Pueblos High School Jazz Festival for the first time in more than a decade, competing against Los Angeles schools each with multiple ensembles. Having won the DP Jazz Festival, San Marcos took its Jazz Ensemble on the road to Chicago.

In its first performance in the Windy City, San Marcos received a gold rating, taking first place, and brought home several individual awards.

Tickets to the May 29 performance are available online, at the Lobero box office, or by calling 805-963-0761. The show is reserved seating. Tickets cost $20 each with $16 of each ticket purchase benefiting San Marcos High School Instrumental Music Program.

The schools instrumental music program is in danger of having major budget cuts, as are all the arts and music programs throughout Santa Barbara Union School District, San Marcos said.
