The Isla Vista Food Co-op will hold a Grand Re-opening of its new Downtown Market, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at 1533 State St., Santa Barbara.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m., followed by speeches, light refreshments and socializing. Local vendors and organizations, including Santa Barbara Public Library’s Library Van, NSBC United Way, and Pacific Pride Foundation are expected to participate.

There will be a tie-dye table, coupons and raffle opportunities, and wine tasting for attendees ages 21 and older.

The Isla Vista Food Co-op is a community-owned, cooperative grocery store founded in 1972 by UCSB students and neighbors who wanted to ensure the community has neighborhood access to high quality, affordable food, and so local farmers and producers would have a dedicated store to sell to.

After 50 years in I.V., the Isla Vista Food Co-op expanded in January to serve the greater Santa Barbara community. For more, visit www.islavistafood.coop.
