The Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society invites community members to its upcoming General Meeting Saturday, April 20 at First Presbyterian Church, 21 E. Constance Ave., Santa Barbara.

The free event will feature a talk called Don’t Let Your Memories Fade, presented by Rick Voight, CEO/co-founder of Vivid-Pix.

Scanning and digitizing photos, films and memories is key to preserving and sharing your family history. In his talk Voight will share how to scan, organize and revitalize photographs.

The meeting will open at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments, meeting with the society’s Special Interest Groups to chat about everything from beginning genealogy to writing your family history and browsing genealogical books for sale.

Voight’s talk will begin at 11 a.m., following a short business meeting at 10:30 a.m. The business meeting and presentation will also be available via Zoom. Register at SBGen.org to attend online.

After the meeting and presentation, Voight will be at the society’s Sahyun Genealogical Library, 316 Castillo St., at 1 p.m. to showcase the Vivid-Pix Memory Station, providing hands-on experience scanning, restoring, and recording family memories.

Voight, publisher of “Reunions Magazine” is a lifelong photography and imaging visionary with leading photography companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Kodak.

He holds multiple degrees in applied science, business management, business administration, and finance from the Rochester Institute of Technology and University of South Florida.
